First off let me say that this is in no way all inclusive, and everyday I think of more things that should be on this list, but this is a relative sampling of the things I consider to be some of my favorite things about Michigan. Silly though they may be.
10. Snow, even though everyone in California says: “You can just go up into mountains if you want to see snow.”
9. Crazy weather (one day it was 70F and sunny, the next it was 50F and rainy, the next it snowed).
8. Being able to use the old joke: “We have two seasons here: Winter, and road construction.”
7. Being able to register any car, any time, regardless of whether or not it even runs.
6. If you go to the right grocery store, you can still buy Skyline Chili.
5. Downey’s Potato Chips, from Waterford, MI.
4. Being within a few hours driving distance of the greatest amusement park on earth, Cedar Point.
3. Dolly’s cheese bread, BD’s Mongolian BBQ, and Buffalo Wild Wings. BD’s is mostly a Midwestern thing, and BW3’s is nation wide, but neither is anywhere near where we’re at.
2. Meijer, really. Super Walmart only wishes it was as cool as the original 24 hour, get-whatever-you-need, superstore.
1. Being able to use my right hand as a map. All you Michigan natives know it’s true.
