i got a job!!!

Wait, nope, I was wrong.

April fools.

Honestly, I hate April Fools Day.  I am, what I like to call, a naturally trusting person.  I wouldn’t normally say gullible, because I take just about everything I hear/read with a grain of salt before I really consider it.  But in general, if someone says something, or I read something that’s not obviously outrageous or inane, I give people the benefit of the doubt.

I hate April Fools mostly because most years I forget that it’s April 1st (or just April in the case of magazines), and get worked up or excited about certain stuff I read.  One of the worst ones for me was when I got my May issue of Electronic Gaming Magazine a couple of years ago, and realized that the story about Nintendo remaking a previous Zelda game had actually been a farce.  As you can imagine, I was understandably upset.  And can you blame me?

The trip to California went well.  It’s very strange traveling across the country by plane.  All sense of distance is lost by the time you get to your destination.  There was nothing to really queue me into the fact that I was over 2000 miles away from my home, though obviously I was aware of it.  The fact that it took me less time to get to get to California than it did for me to get to Minnesota this summer really messes with my minds sense of space and time.

The interview went ok, I think I presented myself well.  There is always opportunity for improvement, and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t think I could have done better.  But you only think that once it’s done and over with.

Now the hard part really begins: the waiting to hear back.  I didn’t have a chance to find out when they’d be letting us know.  My time spent interviewing was almost 100% technical, so I actually didn’t have an opportunity to ask many questions aside from asking a few people about the jobs they did, how long they’d been there, etc.  Hopefully I’ll hear back soon, one way or another.

I assure you this, the next time I tell you I got a job, it should be true.
