Girl #1: You know that Lisa Ling, the one that was on Channel One? She did this thing in Africa.
Girl #2: Are you sure? I ‘m pretty sure it was the Lisa Ling from the View, and Oprah.

<note: they’re one and the same>

Guy: Man, what’s wrong with Africa, I mean, how did it get so bad.
Girl #1: Well you know, it’s a lot better now than it was 10 years ago. You know, with Mandela.
Girl #2: And with Angelina Jolie.
Girl #1: Yeah.

Tomorrow at 3:30pm EST, I’ll be flying out to the west coast for my first, post graduation, job interview.  I’ve been studying for a little while now, but admittedly not as much as I probably should have.  Today I’m going to be putting together a small packet of review sheets, which will hopefully help.  You see it’s not a typical interview, and I think this is one thing that really shows the difference between IT, and what I’m hoping to do.

Starting at 8am on Friday, I’m going to have a series of five interviews.  The first will be a typical job interview with the department.  But the four remaining interviews are, for all practical purposes, in depth tests of different technological disciplines.  They originally told me there would be five: Computer Systems/Software, Digital Logic, Device Physics, Fabrication, and Statistics.  But as of now it looks like I’ll only be having four of those (though which four I don’t know).

I’m only a bit nervous at this point.  On one hand this is what I’ve been preparing for, for so long.  But on the other, I’ve never had an interview quite like this before.   And not that it really matters, but this will be the first time I’ve ever been to California before.

As long as what’s supposed to happen, happens, I’ll be fine with whatever outcome results.  I’ll be getting back late Saturday night, but I don’t know if I’ll have any idea where I stand when I arrive home or not.  As soon as I know more, I’ll be sure to let everyone know.
