10 years

6 03 2008

It has recently occurred to me that I have now lived in Lansing for nearly 10 years.  Which, interestingly is the same amount of time I lived in Coldwater.  I guess I’ve been thinking about it more since I anticipate having to move in the somewhat near future.  It’s very strange; on one hand the time seems to have flown by, and yet it’s hard to believe everything that has happened in the last 10 years.  I mean, I’ve attended 3 colleges (one twice) for over 9 years, I’ve worked two summers of camp, gotten married, bought a house, purchased 4 cars, lived briefly in two different states (Indiana and Minnesota), got a dog, and on and on the list goes.

In relation to all of this I’ve been thinking a lot about my high school reunion, which I presume is probably going to occur this year.  I haven’t heard anything yet, but I think it’s safe to assume something will take place.  It’s strange knowing how many people I graduated with stayed in the Coldwater area, and then looking at myself and seeing just how much different I am now than I was then.  The one thing I’m definitely glad of though is that I graduated from college before the reunion took place.  I mean, how embarrassing would that have been.

Anyway, as I’ve reached this point where I’ve lived here as long as I lived in Coldwater; as we’ve reached the point where we are likely to move on to something all together different; as Crystal and I have both reached a point where we’re likely to be given an opportunity to revisit our past, it’s strange to think just how much goes on in life.  All these things pass us by on a day to day basis, constantly changing the course of our futures.  Hopefully for the better.
